Green Progress Award sponsored by Grundon Waste Management

The Green Progress Award is sponsored by Grundon Waste Management and is open to companies and organisations of any size that are based in the Thames Valley, and that have been operating for at least one full year. The award seeks to encourage improved recycling and environmental performance at every level throughout the organisation, with a particular emphasis on staff buy-in. Recycling at home is now second nature to most people, but if the UK is to reach the goal of ‘zero waste to landfill’ then further improvements are needed in the workplace. This could be as simple as ensuring that employees recognise the importance of effective segregation, such that recyclables are not contaminated with food or residual waste.

Judges will be looking for innovation in environmental performance, for example a demonstrable reduction in the organisations’ carbon footprint through reduced energy consumption, and for evidence of sustainable performance rather than a ‘quick fix’. They will consider the management of waste, for example separate food waste collection or treatment, or measures taken to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill, and the environmental benefits and any cost savings accrues as a result.

The winner will receive a prestigious trophy for their reception or boardroom. It will also be featured in The Business Magazine and enjoy wide-ranging media and PR opportunities.
